| Stepping Stones Strengthens Mitchell |
Stepping Stones Prevention Services acts as a catalyst to reinforce
messages that promote positive behaviors for youth and adults and
encourages all individuals to lead a healthy and productive life.
Efforts are concentrated to gather community resources to combat
substance abuse, teen pregnancy, violence, juvenile delinquency
and school dropout rates.
|
| We encourage the involvement of all community members to promote
positive role models, teach resistance concepts, develop healthy
life skills and provide positive alternatives & choices. |
| |
| State Mandated Prevention Services |
| Prevention Services supports research-based practices, data-driven
processes and outcome-based planning and evaluation. We concentrate
specifically on three
statewide outcomes: |
•Reduce the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by
youth;
•Increase the age at which children try illegal substances for the first
time;
•Increase the perception of risk and harm with the use of illegal substances. |
| Primary Goal: The primary service of the Prevention
Services program is to assist community groups, social service
agencies, parents, businesses, churches and school personnel in
developing coalitions, which focus on reducing the risk of problem
behaviors and develop protective factors for individuals, families,
schools and communities. |

| ADOLESCENT PREVENTION EDUCATION |
This research-based program is designed to gently,
but powerfully challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly
contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug
use. It is designed for youth ages 13 to 20 years of age, who already engage
in high-risk drinking or drug use or who are in a group likely to begin making
choices that increase risk for problems.

younger first offenders of alcohol or other drugs.
The Young Adult Alcohol Diversion part of this program is designed for 19 to
