Dakota Counseling Institute has served the residents of south central South Dakota for thirty-five years. Our service area consists of but is not limited to the counties of Aurora, Brule, Davison, Hanson, and Sanborn counties. Dakota Counseling Institute is a private non-profit community mental health center, with. its main office located in Mitchell and a satellite office in Chamberlain.

The staff of Dakota Counseling Institute consists of psychologists, clinical social workers, professional counselors, a registered nurse, graduate students, psychological interns, psychiatric residents, consulting psychiatrists, a consulting psychiatric nurse practitioner, and case managers.

Dakota Counseling Institute provides a wide variety of services to our consumers. Outpatient services, such as therapy appointments and psychiatric medication assessments, are available in the office, whereas other programs such as case management and home based therapy for children can take place in the client's home.

Referral for services can be made by the consumers of such services, their families, but also by family physicians or other professionals involved.
